Dubai Diaries: What we could not do !
Well when you have a baby, you are the one who adjusts the schedule, not them! And so we missed out on some adventures & places to keep the trip relaxed and more fun rather than succumbing to FOMO (Fear of missing out, in case you haven't heard the term!). Below are some of the spots we decided to skip because of Viraaj's age, but are worth a visit if you plan Dubai !
Snow World or Ski Dubai

This is an indoor snow theme park
situated within the Mall of Emirates. The tickets can be booked online for AED 225
per person (this ticket cost includes the winter wear & boots provided
there). The minimum entry age for kids however is 3 years. This is a full day
attraction with activities like snow sledging, skiing, snowman building,
mountain rides& sessions with Penguins.
Desert Safari:

Dune Bashing (Photo from Google) |
This is one of the few things we
missed out on as Viraaj was very small & we weren’t sure about nausea
during the dune bashing , hence avoided it.
However recently our friends did it with their 3 year old daughter & said
it was a good & different experience. The cost for two is AED 200 approx
(child’s entry is free till 5 yr) in a 4x4 Land Cruiser.
Desert safari is a good entertainment for the entire family as it includes activities for all age groups. You can either opt for a morning safari or an evening one that includes Dinner. It takes about 90 mins from Dubai to reach this place & the Land cruiser picks up & drops you at your given stay. The total time of safari is somewhere around 6 hours & a lot can be done in addition to Dune bashing.

Dune bashing is an extreme
adventure & as safe as a roller coaster (pun intended :P), but is a must
try as its quite a thrilling experience. Apart from that you can also Ski down the smaller dunes around the camp, hold a falcon, ride a camel (at an extra cost) and ride a quad bike. The dinner is barbecued Arabic food as they call it, however my friends gave a very negative feedback about it. So, do carry something of your own that your baby prefers to eat & oh, utmost important- lots of sunblock!
Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi is nearly 1.5 hour ride from Dubai. If you have one day for Abu Dhabi & are an adventure enthusiast, I would suggest you to cover both the Grand Mosque as well as the Ferrari World. To commute between Dubai & Abu Dhabi, you can either take a sharing cab (generally called as Pathan taxis) or Bus No. E100. The sharing cabs are more frequent, charge AED 50 per pax & drop you till Abu Dhabi Central bus station from where you can further board a private cab to reach your destination. The buses come at a frequency of every 30 min at either Al Ghubaiba or Ibn Battuta bus stations in Dubai, charge AED 25 per pax and drop you off at Abu Dhabi Central bus station.
The Grand Mosque
The Grand mosque also known as Sheikh Zayed mosque is the only mosque that is open even for non-muslims. The mosque is grandeur with beautiful courtyard, huge chandeliers, a massive prayer room clad in marble with stunning craftsmanship. The below photos from Google will give you an idea of the actual grandness of this mosque,

Tip: I would recommend you to avoid wearing shorts or miniskirts for this place though there is no such written rule, but it’s always humble not to hurt anybody’s religious sentiments.
The Ferrari World
Ferrari World is an amusement park on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. It is the first Ferrari branded theme park & has the record for the largest space frame structure ever built. Formula Rossa, the world's fastest roller coaster, is also located here (again comes the complex :P). You can easily spend the entire day here & enjoy various family/kids rides & F1 shows. We avoided this place as we felt that it would probably take another 5-6 years for Viraaj to enjoy such rides (and if they do not enjoy a particular thing, they make sure that you don't either !).
