Dubai Diaries: The Magnificent Dubai Mall

Entrance to Dubai Mall from the Metro Side

After the dolphin show we boarded the Metro from Healthcare City Metro station to Dubai Mall station. These two metro stations are on 2 separate lines & hence you need to change trains at Burjuman Station.
Dubai Mall is the largest mall in the world & also known as the home of DSF (Dubai Shopping Festival). DSF starts from 25th Dec & lasts for a month. If you are a shopping buff, this is the time & place for you. During the first 3 days of DSF you might get stuff at a huge discount of upto 90% off !!(Yeah you heard me right)
The entire city celebrates the spirit of this Shopping festival with various concerts, contests, lucky draws, multi cuisine food shows & fireworks at various malls happening every weekend for this 1 month.

Dubai mall is so huge that you cannot cover the entire thing in 1 day (Also after a point & lot of walk you feel that your 1 week of cardio is done!). Dubai mall has a wonderful fish aquarium which is a delight for kids & an amazing range of food courts-a delight for your taste buds ;) You will easily get Finger Food, Lebanese, American, Chinese, all sorts of veg & non-veg dishes to whet your hunger. There are endless shops & brands you wouldn’t even have heard of, but its a great place to experience luxury. We had easily spent 4-5 hours here untill Viraaj started dozing off.

Tip: Dubai mall is huge & you really need to have a stroller here if you are travelling with a kid (unless you are over confident about your baby :P). In case you haven't carried it, you can also rent it from the Mall itself on hourly basis on exorbitant prices :P.

Travel within Dubai: Metros are best & cheapest way to travel. The metros are well connected all over the place & you can also get a prepaid card loaded with some money in order to avoid standing in the ticket queue every time. Also you can carry your baby’s stroller easily in the metros.

Another way is the local buses but you really need to know the correct bus number & time, though Google Maps are a great help in this.Taxis are another means of transport but are costly.

Caution: Don’t make the mistake of boarding the first class compartment with a regular ticket (you don’t want to lose money on the first day of your trip).
